Overview

Discover on a 4-day tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Merzouga Desert, starting with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains and visiting the ancient ksar of Ait Benhaddou. Stay overnight in the Dades Valley before exploring the Dades and Todgha Gorges on the second day. Continue to Merzouga for a sunset camel ride and a night in a Berber desert camp. Conclude the tour on the fourth day with a drive through the Ziz Valley and Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, before arriving in Fes in the evening.

Itinerary

Day 1- Marrakech / Ait Ben Haddou / Valley Of Roses / Dades Valley.

Morning:

• Departure from Marrakech: Early morning departure from your accommodation in Marrakech.
• Tizi n’Tichka Pass: Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m), with stops for panoramic views and visiting an Argan oil cooperative.

Afternoon:

• Ait Benhaddou: Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, the fortified village (ksar) of Ait Benhaddou. Explore the ancient kasbahs.
• Lunch: Enjoy lunch in Ait Benhaddou or Ouarzazate.

Evening:

• Dades Valley: Continue to the Dades Valley, passing through the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual Rose Festival.
• Overnight: Stay in a local hotel or guesthouse in the Dades Valley.

Day 2-Dades Valley / Todgha Gorge / Erfoud / Merzouga Erg Chebbi.

Morning:

• Dades Gorges: After breakfast, explore the stunning Dades Gorges, with its dramatic rock formations and scenic landscapes.
• Todgha Gorges: Drive to Todgha Gorges, one of Morocco’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Enjoy a walk along the canyon.

Afternoon:

• Lunch: Stop for lunch in a local restaurant near the Todgha Gorges.
• Journey to Merzouga: Continue your journey towards the Sahara Desert, passing through Erfoud, famous for its fossils.

Evening:

• Merzouga and Erg Chebbi Dunes: Arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll switch to camels for a trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes.
• Sunset Camel Ride: Enjoy a camel ride into the desert, watching the sunset over the dunes.
• Overnight: Spend the night in a Berber desert camp, enjoying traditional music, a campfire, and a delicious dinner under the stars.

Day 3- Merzouga / Merzouga.

Morning:

• Sunrise Over the Dunes: Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Sahara.
• Desert Activities: After breakfast, engage in activities like sandboarding or a 4×4 tour of the dunes. Visit a nomadic Berber village to learn about their way of life.

Afternoon:

• Lunch: Return to Merzouga for lunch or have lunch with a Berber family.
• Khamlia Village: Visit the nearby village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music. Enjoy a traditional performance.

Evening:

• Relaxation: Return to your desert camp or stay in a local hotel. Enjoy the serene desert atmosphere and another beautiful sunset.
• Overnight: Spend another night in Merzouga.

Day 4-Merzouga / Erfoud / Ziz Valley / Midelt / Azrou / Ifrane / Fez.

Morning:

• Camel Ride Back: Ride the camels back to Merzouga village for breakfast and a shower.
• Rissani: Visit the nearby town of Rissani, known for its lively souk and traditional market.

Afternoon:

• Journey to Fes: Drive through the Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves and stunning views, and continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains.
• Lunch: Stop for lunch along the way.

Evening:

• Drive through the Cedar Forests: Drive through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to Barbary macaque monkeys.
• Ifrane: Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean environment.
• Arrival in Fes: Continue the drive to Fes, arriving in the early evening. Transfer to your accommodation in Fes.
