ITINERARY

Day 1 -Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Valley of Draa – Tamnougalt

 • Morning Departure from Marrakech: Begin your journey early in the morning as we head towards the stunning Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its kasbahs and backdrop for many films.
• Ait Ben Haddou: Explore the iconic clay architecture and panoramic views of this ancient fortified village.
• Ouarzazate: Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Visit the famous film studios and the impressive Kasbah Taourirt.
• Valley of Draa: As we move towards the desert, pass through the lush Draa Valley, lined with palm groves and traditional Berber villages.
• Tamnougalt: Arrive at Tamnougalt, a historic village near Agdz, where you’ll explore a lesser-known kasbah and enjoy a peaceful evening in this oasis.
• Overnight Stay: Local guesthouse or traditional kasbah.

Day 2 -Zagora – Tamegroute – M’Hamid – Dunes of Erg Chigaga (New Year’s Eve Celebration)

• Zagora: After breakfast, drive to Zagora, the gateway to the desert. Admire the changing landscapes as we approach the sand dunes.
• Tamegroute: Stop at Tamegroute to visit the ancient Koranic library and the unique pottery workshops that produce distinctive green ceramics.
• M’Hamid: Continue to the desert outpost of M’Hamid, the last village before the vast Sahara stretches out.
• Erg Chigaga Dunes: Arrive at the impressive Erg Chigaga dunes, the largest in the region.
• New Year’s Eve Celebration: Celebrate New Year’s Eve with a magical night under the stars. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, campfire, live nomadic music, and dance as the desert comes alive with romance and celebration.
• Overnight in a Desert Camp: Spend the night in a comfortable desert camp, immersed in the beauty of the Sahara.

Day 3 -Camel Trek in the Dunes of Erg Chigaga

• Morning Camel Trek: Wake up to the silence of the desert and embark on a camel trek through the golden dunes of Erg Chigaga. Experience the timeless way of traveling through the Sahara as the nomads once did.
• Dunes Exploration: Spend the day exploring the majestic dunes, capturing incredible photos, and enjoying the peace of the desert.
• Overnight in the Desert Camp: Return to your camp for another serene evening under the desert sky.

Day 4 -Relax in the Desert Camp

• Leisure Day in the Desert: Spend a day at leisure in the desert camp. You can relax, meditate, or take a gentle walk through the dunes.
• Optional Activities: Engage in sandboarding, or simply relax in the calm environment with breathtaking views of the Sahara.
• Overnight in the Desert Camp: Enjoy another night of tranquility under the stars, with the option for another night of nomadic music.

Day 5 -Lake Iriki – Fossil Mountains – Taznakht – Marrakech

Lake Iriki: After breakfast, journey through the desert landscapes, passing by the dry Lake Iriki, which is an ancient salt flat that comes alive after rare rainfalls.
• Fossil Mountains: Stop to explore the fossil-rich mountains, where you can see ancient fossils embedded in the rock formations.
• Taznakht: Continue through the town of Taznakht, famous for its Berber rugs and carpets. You’ll have time to browse local crafts and maybe pick up a souvenir.
• Return to Marrakech: Head back to Marrakech, where the tour ends in the evening, leaving you with memories of a magical New Year’s celebration in the Sahara.
