Overview

From Marrakesh to Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, two days starting with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains, where you will pass the stunning Tizi-N’Techka Pass. On the way, you can explore the historic Kasbah of Telouet, enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch, and pass by the summit of Mount Tizi-N’Techka. Arriving at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou in the afternoon, you’ll take a guided tour of this ancient palace, famous for its earthen architecture and cinematic history. At sunset, enjoy the stunning views before enjoying dinner and overnight in a traditional guest house. On day two, consider an optional visit to Ouarzazate, home of Atlas Film Studios and Kasbah Taourirt, before returning to Marrakesh.

ITINERARY

Day 1-Marrakech / Telouet Kasbah / Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah

 

Morning: Departure from Marrakech

• 8:00 AM: Depart from Marrakech. Your journey begins with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains.
• 10:00 AM: Stop at Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 meters above sea level). Enjoy the panoramic views and take some photos.

Midday: Exploring the High Atlas

• 12:00 PM: Visit Telouet Kasbah, a historical site that was once a residence of the powerful Glaoui family.
• 1:00 PM: Enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant in Telouet.

Afternoon: Continue to Ait Benhaddou

• 2:30 PM: Resume your journey, heading towards Ait Benhaddou.
• 4:00 PM: Arrive at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Check into your accommodation.
• 4:30 PM: Begin your guided tour of the ancient Ksar of Ait Benhaddou. Explore its earthen buildings and learn about its history and significance.
• 6:30 PM: Enjoy the sunset over the Ksar, a truly magical experience.

Evening: Dinner and Relaxation

• 8:00 PM: Dinner at your hotel or a local restaurant, savoring traditional Moroccan cuisine.
• Overnight: Stay at a traditional guesthouse or hotel in Ait Benhaddou.

Day 2 -Aït Benhaddou / Ouarzazate / Marrakech

Morning: Optional Activities and Departure

• 7:30 AM: Breakfast at your accommodation.
• 8:30 AM: Optional visit to Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Sahara.” You can visit the Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah.
• 11:00 AM: Begin your journey back to Marrakech.

Midday: Lunch and Scenic Drive

• 1:00 PM: Stop for lunch at a restaurant along the route, possibly in the town of Taddert.
• 2:00 PM: Continue your drive through the High Atlas Mountains, with opportunities to stop and admire the scenery.

Afternoon: Return to Marrakech

• 4:30 PM: Arrive back in Marrakech. Depending on your interests and energy levels, you could explore some sights in Marrakech or simply relax.
